In the Beginning: Moritz Zdekauer was an artisan of fine porcelain in the Czech town of Stara Role. The inception of his company dates back to 1810 when Benedict Hasslacher established it with the purpose of crafting exquisite pottery. By 1836, the manufacturing of exquisite porcelain had commenced on the picturesque banks of the Rolava River. In 1824, it was acquired by Augustin Nowotny, an astute Prague entrepreneur. Through swift expansion, the company flourished to around 100 employees, reaching a peak of approximately 800 employees by 1870. Following their zenith of achievement, the company encountered financial hardships and was sold in auction to Moritz Zdekauer Bank in Prague. With a new business plan and new owners, exports began to North and South America, Holland, and the Dutch Colonies. In 1909, a German porcelain manufacturer C. M. Hutschenreuter acquired the company. Recognizing the value of a name, they opted to keep the now famous name along with its mark - a crowned eagle with the initials ‘MZ.' After WWII, the company merged with Carlsbad Porcelain in 1958.

Modern Era: Following its privatization in 1992, the esteemed Starorolský porcelán Moritz Zdekauer, a. s., gracefully persisted in crafting exquisite porcelain bearing the regal crowned eagle and MZ insignia. As a result of the global financial crisis, it was dissolved in 2013. However, the production persisted under the patronage of Bohemia porcelán Moritz Zdekauer 1810 s.r.o, who acquired the brand and assets of the former company.

MZ Today: The production of porcelain persists with the majestic crowned eagle, displaying its wings in all their splendor, and the distinctive mark 'MZ'.
